Funny story. ACL was a couple of weeks ago and we had some people in from out of town. Just so I could have enough instruments for the weekend I borrowed a coworker's drumset and mic in preparation for rocking out. After Saturday's show we had some more people come over just to play Rock Band 2. We had Yuri on the bass, Megan on the drums, Staab on guitar and me about to grace the mic all poised for that first downbeat...A few minutes later we realized the TV wasn't on and wasn't going to turn on as the bulb had burnt out. Awesome. So we played Apples to Apples instead.
I figured I should follow up on my previous post about Rock Band and Guitar Hero. In the end I decided to get the stand alone game for Rock Band 2 and go with the full hardware and game set for Guitar Hero World Tour. I think it was a wise decision.
In any case, I have since beaten the Tour section of Rock Band and only have one bad thing to say about the game. I absolutely hate playing the same song over and over again in mystery setlists, other venues, and challenge songs. Everything else about the game I have really enjoyed so far. I don't know if this was a bug, but I once played Carry On Wayward Son 3 times in the same 4 song setlist! Then in the very next setlist played it again! I mean, I really like the song a lot and even I was getting tired of it. Luckily I'm not tired of it any more...
Everything else about the game I have really enjoyed. The drum trainer is a good waste of time and might actually be able to teach you how to play drums. I have also spent way more time than necessary on the character creater. I have attempted on multiple occasions to get tattoos that I was happy with, but so far have not placed a single one. Maybe I am just not that creative. I did make a steampunk Dr. Horrible though. Evil League of Evil-style with the red lab coat and welders goggles. I think it turned out well. In any case I would recommend picking this game up and let me know if you want to be in my Rock Band. I have replaced my TV's bulb and am now ready to rock.
