IR Pop Culture Cagematch: Ghostbusters vs. TMNT - Ladies

Posted by MajorLB

This is the fourth post in our IR Pop Culture Cagematch (IRP2C?) series. This series is pitting Ghostbusters against the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Previous posts: Television , Weapons.

Immediate Regret's Pop Culture Cagematch
Ghostbusters versus Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

We've already covered the very important topics of weaponry, lair, and theme song, but the all important lady figure can not be ignored. I was obviously given this segment due to my own gender. However, I'm not convinced that this doesn't make me less qualified. Also under qualifications I should note that I only vaguely remember the TMNT cartoon and I think I once caught the marshmallow man thing part of Ghostbusters on TV once. Don't worry - I know Ghostbusters is on Hulu. I'll watch it someday.

April O'Neil vs. Janine Melnitz

Appearance
Both red headed (at least in cartoons) so that's pretty much a draw. I don't really think Annie Potts, who played Janine in both GB movies, is that hot but maybe that's because I only really know her from Designing Women. In the end I'm gonna have to give it to Janine though because April wears a lot of yellow. I'm not a big yellow clothing fan.

Occupation
Janine is a secretary for a bunch of guys who fight ghosts and live someplace with a firepole.

April is a reporter/computer systems specialist.

Do I really need to explain the winner here?

Janine: 1 April: 1

Badassness (not to be confused with bitchassness)
I found pictures of Janine suited up like a Ghostbuster (even if her suit was pink) and that's kinda awesome.

While I hear the 2007 movie had a Splinter-trained April, traditionally April filled the typical damsel in distress role and, according to wikipedia, gave up information after being tickeld. Seriously? I mean I know being tickled sucks...

Janine: 2 April: 1

I was also gonna cover their work love connections, but they both seem a total mess. Beastiality or emotionally stunted men with proton packs...not much of a choice. So I guess Janine of the Ghostbusters wins for being the least pathetic! Neither one is particularly exciting and maybe they aren't supposed to be since the shows are about the dudes and aimed at guys that haven't hit puberty yet (not saying there's anything wrong with still enjoying them). For another IR author's opinion on April check out DWheezy's archive.

I have to imagine that video only exists because somebody has some sort of foot / bondage / April O'Neil fetish.

I remember seeing that episode for some reason (I used to tape TMNT when I was in elementary school) and I never understood why someone would give up information when tickled.
