IR Pop Culture Cagematch: Ghostbusters vs. TMNT - Enemies

Posted by Royalcow

This is the fifth post in our IR Pop Culture Cagematch (IRP2C?) series. This series is pitting Ghostbusters against the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Previous posts: Television ,Weapons, Base & Transportation, Ladies.

Immediate Regret's Pop Culture Cagematch
Ghostbusters versus Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

An important element in a cagematch is the quality of ass that you have kicked. Awesome ninja weapons and nuclear reactors won't make much difference if your foe isn't up to the challenge. So the final post here in our pop culture comparison is enemies.

Both groups have so much material to choose from due to the video games, movies, comics, cereal boxes, action figures, TV shows, and Halloween costumes out there that I am going to have to pair down to the biggest baddies that they faced. Let's go with the following rankings.

Ghostbusters:
  1. Gozer
  2. Vigo
  3. Stay Puft Marshmellow Man
TMNT:
  1. Shredder
  2. Krang
  3. Baxter Stockman

Cagematch battle: Go!

Baxter vs Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

So I do realize that the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is just another form of Gozer, but that one character is the most recognizable enemy of the Ghostbusters. Baxter Stockman created the Mousers that were the bane of my existance in the TMNT video games and occasionally turned into a fly (the lexicon isn't all that consistent for this character). However, I don't care how many Mousers Baxter throws at him or if he turns into a fly or not, Stay Puft wins out here. Look at him. Its a ginormous evil man made of marshmallow ready to crush your ass. Fun fact: in the movie the marshmallow goo was shaving cream.

Vigo vs Krang

I'm giving this one to Krang, mostly cause Vigo the Karpatian was one of the most ineffective villians ever. Sure he did some mind control, but in the end he was a little bit of a push over. Krang and his suit takes Vigo down.

And the main event!
Shredder vs Gozer

For this battle I will assume we are dealing with the lethal ninja master with the entire disposal of the Foot. Heck it could even be both robot and ninja-human Foot (the cartoon had robot ninjas). Even so I don't think that Gozer would have much trouble at all. What she lacks in ninja skills (she does do some nifty flips to avoid the proton streams) she makes up for in mind reading, gargoyles, and lightning. Oh and don't forget some soft of bubble suit. It took a total protonic reversal to bring her down. Can Shredder say that?

There you go, 2-1 for Ghostbusters.

I have to disagree on the Stay Puft vs. Baxter thing. Baxter has a bazillon mousers that would do nothing but distract Stay Puft. Meanwhile, Baxter could fly around the back of the Stay Puft, shoot him with one of his crazy inventions and it would be game over.

I'm not sure that the Stay Puft man doesn't work like the Hulk and all those mousers just make him mad and more powerful.

Even if we give it to Baxter, unless he has already invented proton packs Gozer would win in the playoff system.

I guess Krang might have something from Dimension X that could put away Gozer. Hmm. Difficult to say. Really it's God-like power vs. whatever crazy technology from Dimension X we don't know about.

Like Slash. Who knows what kind of crazy sh*t slash has in his bag of tricks?

Gozer needed total proton reversal and I'm not sure Baxter could have provided that. Who the hell knows what tech that Krang could have access to, but I still think that Gozer would have been able to deal with whatever he had.
