Posted by Double MScrubs is one of those shows that people either love or hate. I'm not sure why this is, but it seems that the executives at NBC fell into the hate side while the executives at ABC fall into the love side. If you didn't know, NBC canned Scrubs (and proceeded to mess up the order of the final few episodes) so it was supposed to end last season, but ABC picked it up as a mid-season replacement (it starts January 6th at 9/8c). It supposedly will only run one season, but you never know what might happen if it gets good ratings. So, in anticipation of Scrubs (and hoping to convince you to watch it), I wanted to give you 5 reasons why I like Scrubs.
1) Guy Love
Scrubs has a running quasi-gay joke between the main two characters Turk and JD. Its an awesome take on "gay" jokes because its different than the ridiculous over-the-top gay jokes that sometimes get used. This was expressed best in the song "Guy Love" performed on the show (if you've read my stuff, you've seen this video before, but its still awesome to watch...and probably expresses my relationship with a certain someone who is into animation and stuff).
2) Dr. Cox
Yes, there is a doctor named Dr. Cox and he is awesome. He's kinda a douche and he makes fun of all the main characters. If you want to see some awesome beat downs, Scrubs is the place. Cox can't be summed up in one clip, but here's a good one.
3) Judy Reyes
Some people love the Sarah Chalke (aka Elliot), but I find myself spending entire shows trying to figure out how I feel about Judy Reyes. Basically, I've come to this, she's a (very) poor man's Salma Hayek. Let's not get it twisted, no one is replicating Salma (former BCS #1), but Salma doesn't do sitcoms so Judy Reyes is what we get. Wait...Salma does do sitcoms? Oh, well then Sarah Chalke it is...
Elliot might be a little crazy, but finding a clip where she doesn't take her top off is hard to do, so there's that I guess.
4) The Singing
You saw it earlier, but Scrubs has an inordinate amount of singing for a sitcom. I'm not sure why, but the writers like to mix it in, and, in general, it can be funny even out of context. For instance, here's a performance of Boston's More than a Feeling that is pretty funny to watch.
Even more, there's a recurring joke with Ted's band (just watch the clip, you'll see a bunch of them) and there was a whole episode done in musical form (which brought you the clip from item number 1).
5) Guest Stars
Scrubs has had an unbelievable amount of guest stars. JD has made out with Amy Smart, Heather Graham, Mandy Moore, and Tara Reid (forget the last one) just to name a few chicks. There's been a ton of more guest stars as well. I'm not sure how Scrubs does it, but they definitely get some big time stars. For instance, ABC is kicking off the new season with a 3 episode cameo from Courtney Cox. Here's a trailer for this year.
So, if after all that, you're like, "Yeah, I'd like to watch Scrubs, but after 8 seasons I'd feel too far behind," I have two suggestions for you: 1) Watch reruns - Scrubs is all over syndication, and 2) Watch this clip, the characters are summed up pretty well in this clip (you could watch this and then watch the show and not miss a beat).
Got good Scrubs memories that I missed, let me know in the comments.

Great post MM. The unnecessary singing is one of my favorite parts as well. For some reason or another the Little Missus didn't like the show, but I think I finally got her hooked on it. Oh and this clip has always been one of my favorites.

Oh yeah. Scrubs is fantastic. It's one of the most consistently funny shows on tv.
As far as catching up on missed episodes - all you have to do is set your DVR to record ALL episodes. As Double M mentioned this thing is on the air in syndication more often than all of the Law & Orders combined.
I had no idea we shared a common fascination with Michael Eisner!
