I'm So Stuffed Right Now...

Posted by Double M

Also, since its Thanksgiving and you need things to be thankful of, be thankful that the chick in this picture turned out to be awesome.

Yeah, that's Tina Fey. Crazy, huh? Now here's an unrelated 30 Rock episode since there's not a new one tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone here at Immediate Regret.

I love Thanksgiving because it is the one time (when I'm not in Vegas) that I can gorge myself and not feel guilty. Good times.

In any case, in my last SNL recap, I made mention of a recurring character from Will Forte named Jim Montgomery. He's been a sex offender before, but in the last skit he was a mental patient that had escaped. SNL never put these video up on Hulu, but I've found the video on the mist and loaded it up on the tubes. I'm brining it to you today because it is a Thanksgiving related video.

It isn't as funny as the Halloween one (someday I'll find that for you), but I think its still enjoyable.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC [Fatality]

Posted by Double M

Some of my favorite arcade games growing up were the Marvel vs. Capcom games. They were awesome because it gave you the chance to be some of your favorite superheros (like Wolverine and Spider-man) in a fighting game but the games themselves weren't too intense (so you could button mash at times).

Well, about 15 years late, Mortal Kombat has finally gotten their shit together to create Mortal Kombat vs. DC. And it looks awesome (plus it features Wonder Woman so its kinda topical for IR). For instance, here's some footage from the game featuring The Joker.

In any case, one of my favorite things from these games is always the fatalities (or "Heroic Brutalities" as they are called for the heros), and someone has put together a compilation of them all on YouTube already.

Some of them are week, but there are some really good fatalities in there. I don't have a 360/PS3 so I won't be able to play this game, but if someone else has played it, let me know how it is.

If you haven't already, make sure you go watch RoyalCow's 5 Minute Fix Post from earlier today. I've been meaning to post this video for forever and now seems as good a time as any.

Hombre goes to the batting cage rocking nunchucks. It's awesome, and unlike Bruce Lee, it isn't CGI.

Oh, Japan - you so crazy.

This is my favorite video of the week. I don't care if it is all CGI and for a product I have no interest in, it's still awesome. Enjoy!

24: Redemption...Bauer is Killing Again

Posted by Double M

Alright, I have given you 2 days. At this point you should have watched 24: Redemption (aka 24: The Movie aka 24: Exile aka 24: Africa aka 24: Bauer Defeats The HIV aka 24: Bauer Fights for a Political Cause) because it was on Sunday night. If you haven't, the 1:27 (that's one hour and twenty-seven minutes) of Bauer action are presented (with limited commercial interruption by Chili's!) on Hulu. Click here to watch it. Go ahead. I'll be here when you get back.

Now if you don't know, I have a man crush on Bauer (not Keifer Sutherland mind you) and I explained this in full on my old site. But then Bauer left me for 18 months and I kinda forgot how bad ass he was. Turns out after 18 months running around the country, Jack can still kick some ass.

If you still haven't watched the 24 movie, first of all, seriously do it. Secondly, without ruining the plot, here's the gist of it: Bauer is running from the US government because he tortured terrorists in Season 6 to find out where the nukes were. He also beat the hell out of some Chinese bastards as well (they kidnapped and tortured him first!). Good times! To help you remember, here's an example of Bauer killing the main terrorist from last season (FYI, it is in QuickTime, so you'll need that):

Pretty bad ass right?

Ya, so after Jack saved the day, he apparently became the scape goat for the government. So he was hiding out in Africa when some local warlords came to kidnap the kids he was helping. This, of course, led to some bad ass killing action featured below:

I guess he's a little rusty. Awesome either way.

Overall, 24: Redemption was a pretty good movie. It definitely had the 24 feel and kept me on edge like the episodes usually due. There's an even more kick ass killing scene about 5 minutes further into the episode, but I don't want to spoil it all for you. The only real downside was that Chloe didn't make an appearance (but it looks like she'll be back in for season 7 itself).

So, seriously, go watch it and get geared up for 20 straight weeks of 24 (they double up some weeks) starting in January.

Tim McGraw Recap and Updated SNL Cast Rankings [SNL Recap]

Posted by Double M

Saturday Night Live this week was hosted by Tim McGraw with bonus musical guest Ludacris and T-Pain. I'm not sure why McGraw hosted this week - usually the host will tell you in the opening monologue (which was interrupted by a commercial?!? Was it on yours?) but I don't recall anything (he did have a kinda funny concept of trying to convince hip-hop viewers that were tuning in to watch Ludacris & T-Pain, who were the musical guests, of why they should like hip-hop). To be honest, it felt like they didn't have any real reason for Tim McGraw, so they went with some hillbilly jokes and generic characters.

Anyway, Ludacris and T-Pain stole the show with the best skit of the night. Andy Samberg's recurring character, Blizzard Man, who looks like a mix between Informer and Vanilla Ice and does a ridiculous white rapper thing was hilarious. If you watch one skit from this past weekend's SNL, watch this one.

That "robot voice" was spot on, hilarious, and made that skit awesome.

As for the recap, SNL opened with an ensemble skit about the auto bailout. Not really all that funny. After the opening monologue, they went to a skit about Clear Rite, an adult retainer. This skit was, again, not all that funny but it featured a stereotypical Tim McGraw role from the night so I've included it below.

In just about every skit, this was McGraw's role - don't mess it up. I don't think there was anything skit that McGraw was in that another SNL cast member (except for Keenan) couldn't have done better. I don't know if Justin Timberlake was supposed to be on this show instead (last week he said he was), but I imagine it would have been better than this show.

They moved on with, was an awesome Bill Hader skit: Dateline: Real-life crimes and bad situations. The skit itself isn't that funny, but Bill Hader, who is awesome, was awesome and made me laugh quite a bit with his exclamations in the skit. Look for a generic McGraw role in the skit.

After that, they went to a Thanksgiving skit about turkey's being hunted. Side note: the camera/lighting seemed to break mid skit which was interesting. Its an ok skit but the real reason I've included it is because Keenan's character gets shot.

The only skit of the night that I felt McGraw was really qualified for was the Casino Royale skit. I assume they included this because Quantum of Solace came out last week (so it probably got cut from last week). The skit was alright, but the Pussy Galore portion was actually pretty funny.

All that said, the ending was atrocious.

Next up was the first Ludacris/T-Pain performance. These are Ludacris' actual words before the song "Yes. This is a classic tale of when you go to the club and the more drinks you have the better everything looks in the club." So, he wrote a song about beer goggles. The song that they performed, One More Drink is actually pretty good.

After the music, it was Weekend Update which was again mediocre without Amy, but it featured a great cameo from Darrell Hammond as Bill Clinton (an impression he's really knocks out). Update: See it here. Hammond has one job: good impressions and SNL has to be skeeting in their pants knowing that they have 5 minutes of jokes built into each week with Bill Clinton. Yes, they may get old, but apparently SNL doesn't care - they like to butcher jokes.

The second cameo on Weekend Update was by the new girl Michaela Watkins as Arianna Huffington. It was not really funny (but that seems to be the writers' fault, not hers), but you can watch it by clicking on the link in this paragraph. There was also a third cameo from Will Forte as Zell Miller making fun of the name "Jim Martin." Not that funny in concept, but Forte is pretty good at selling it. Not on Hulu, you're not missing much.

After weekend update there was a Thanksgiving dinner skit with a Will Forte recurring character, Jeff Montgomery mental patient, Trick-or-Turkeying (with a cameo from the other new chick, Abby Elliott, and all she says is "no"). This video's not on Hulu. I'm pretty sure Jeff Montgomery was also the sex offender from the Halloween episode and that video was also not on Hulu. Unlike that skit, however, this one was not funny. UPDATE: You can see the video for this skit here.

Speaking of not funny, the next skit was a commercial for Dale Britches' Down Home Phony Phone Calls. It was basically non-funny prank phone calls. Not on Hulu, you'd be wasting your time watching it.

The second Ludacris/T-Pain performance was next. I'm fairly certain T-Pain buys all of his hats from the vendors at Disney World/Six Flags (they are all ridiculously decorated top hats). Look, T-Pain is a poor man's Nate Dogg. He needs to stick to the choruses.

The final skit of the night was the Bobby Moynihan pizza parlor recurring character. It was awful. Bobby Moynihan is lucky that Keenan Thompson is on the show because otherwise he would be the worst cast member by a long shot.

Overall, McGraw was a mediocre host on a bad show. It really just seemed like the writers were off their game or didn't care or had another host in mind so they had to change pace. If you didn't see it, watch the first skit above and move on.

Other SNL News:

Rumors are out there that Fred Armisen is out as Barack Obama. This is good news for Barack skit (as long as Keenan doesn't take over) and bad news for Armisen who is probably losing his best role. Armisen should feel safe though, Moynihan has dropped below him in the SNL rankings (more on that in a sec), so he's not in danger of being dropped to a lower division.

New People Watch:

I got my first look at Abby Elliott this week. She's kinda hot. Unfortunately, she only said the word "no" in this episode.

We also saw Michaela Watkins' first skit this week. She was good (she's been on sitcoms before, so she can legitimately act) and instantly moves way up on the rankings.

So from my gut reaction, here's my updated rankings for the SNL Cast:

1) Bill Hader - Good enough that I'm disappointed when his skits aren't good
2) Jason Sudeikis - Still versatile, still good
3) Will Forte - Fart Face is a hit-generating machine for this blog
4) Kristen Wigg - moved up a spot, she's been pretty good in everything
5) Andy Samberg - moved down a spot, mainly because Wigg has been good
6) Darell Hammond - The Bill Clinton news means he will be more prolific
7) Michaela Watkins - new to the list...after one skit so she's volatile
8) Seth Meyers - unable to carry Weekend Update alone
9) Fred Armisen - losing his most important character
10) Casey Wilson - dropped...she overacts everything
11) Bobby Moynihan - he has two characters: dumb guy or quasi-gay guy, both of which are annoying
12) Abby Elliott - she's only here because she hasn't done anything yet. Doesn't matter, she's still better than...
20) Keenan Thompson

Dropped: Amy Poehler (not on the show right now)

After Dark: Its a Dirty Video Game!

Posted by Double M

Its been a while since we the GTA Hot Coffee (NSFW) fiasco of a few years ago. While that was definitely over the top, I think a lot of times video games get a bad rap for being dirty. I guess, some people just love to overreact.

Besides, sometimes the "kids" that are supposedly being ruined don't even know what's going on (like the Shrek movies) or completely miss the references (like a bunch of Disney movies). Take for instance, this video game.

I'm fairly certain that wasn't meant to be dirty, but you can't tell me the writers weren't laughing when that dialog snuck through their censors. And before you tell me that those people should be more mature, remember - these are the people making video games:

Football Friday Fo' Sho [11/22/2008]

Posted by Double M & ADMohr

This is the 11th installment where ADMohr (of ADMohr twitter fame) and I bet guess who wins against the spread of some intriguing (some only to us...and some not even to us) college football games of the weekend. As always, he'll focus on football and I'll focus on other stuff. If you want/need more description, see original post, but if you can't figure it out then you probably struggle at life.

Well, the football season is slowly winding down and I just need a good week to guarantee being over .500 on the season. Like I said, last week I went to the Nebraska/KSU beatdown. Side note: here is K-State's tunnel walk. I waited to post this all week...

That thing is awful. They should have just shown a video of Prince getting fired - the fans would have been way more psyched up for that. Anyway, since I was at the game, I missed a couple of other games and didn't realize until I saw the highlights that Stanford scored a TD on the last play of the game to beat the f-ing spread. I could have been 8-2! Here's the results from last week.

ADMohr: I just haven't been thrilled with my performance this year, so this week I'm going to try a totally different approach, one that really doesn't have much to do with actual performance or predictive skill at all. I figure I'm not bowl eligible at this point, so it may as well be time to try out some new methods. This week's method is in the spirit of "Oprah's favorite things," which is a marketing concept that I've never really been able to wrap my head around - that one person's 'favorites' is enough to constitute actual purchasing habits in other individuals is, well, baffling. So this week I'm picking games based on Admohr's favorite things, and by no other criteria.

Michigan (+20.5) @ Ohio State 11:00 AM ABC

ADMohr: It'd be easy for me to go against Michigan in this one purely because (they suck) they're one of my more hated schools & programs, for reasons that range from a shared national title with the huskers, to occasional individuals I've encountered from the University. But this week is about Admohr's favorite things, not my most hated things, and one of my favorite things about Ohio State was their 1996 juggernaut featuring the greats Stanley Jackson and Joe Germaine at quarterback, a team that rallied from behind to beat Jake the Snake in the rose bowl. Way back when as a kid growing up, I thought that team was amazing, so in the spirit of ex-coach John Cooper, the Buckeyes win and cover in this one.

MM: A couple years ago, people thought this game was going to decide the national championship (Kirk Herbstreit even pushed for a rematch in the title game! And people wonder why he's hated...). Now it is an 11:00 am Big 10 game (that means its not important!). Michigan is having its worst season in years and there was no way in hell that Ohio State was going to be in the title chase after getting beat down by USC. The sad part about this is that I won't be able to bet against them for the 3rd year straight. FYI, if Rodriguez finds a way to win this game, all the bitching from Michigan has to stop. Tressel knows this and OSU wins and covers and I still hate that they put a "teh" at the start of their name.

Michigan State (+15) @ Penn State 2:30 PM ESPN/ABC

ADMohr: One of my huge favorites right now is the Big Ten Network commercial which features all big ten coaches sitting in a fictional living room, trying to get the viewer to be "recruited" to watch the university's games, on the big Ten network, or something. It's one of those commercials that work even if the premise is lost. Anyways, Admohr's favorite things includes the clip at the very, very end which features a completely-crazed Joe Paterno screaming "Come to Penn State" through
his gritted teeth, looking completely like he's having a heart attack. It's brilliant, and frankly it's pretty cool that Joe Pa is a part of it. The Nittany Lions win this one, thanks to the spirit (check that, still alive) of the Joe Pa.

MM: I'm assuming every Penn State fan will be wearing all white to the game. I'm pretty sure that if there was a "white-out" in a southern stadium (like Georgia or Arkansas) its entirely possible that some really racist stuff would happen at the game. I'm also fairly certain there is a 0% chance any African-American would walk into that stadium... Michigan State covers but Penn State wins.

Boston College (+2) @ Wake Forrest 2:30 PM ESPN/ABC

ADMohr: I've always liked how these schools compete with a variety of competitive disadvantages - school size, location, private schools, etc. But one of Admohr's favorite things is quarterback of the Demon Deacons, Riley Skinner - because it's a name that sounds suggestive, even though (I'm pretty sure) it isn't. So Skinner & Wake covers the spread in this one.

MM: Boston College has been all over the map this year, but I think they may have turned a corner last week in that their big win over FSU last week. Unrelated side note, I just heard Mike Tirico call Kirk Herbstreit a "fool" on the radio. That in itself doesn't sound ridiculous, but the phrase "put that foo' on tha phone" was uttered and that was awesome. BC wins outright and beats the spread.

Boise State (-6.5) @ Nevada 3:00 PM ESPN2

ADMohr: Oh man, watch out. One of Admohr's absolute favorites is the boys in Blue up in the Northwest, for a variety of reasons. They support their team and program with an intense, local-identity driven passion. They've created a recruiting advantage by just playing incredibly sound, strong football, and always offering the possibility of crashing the BCS party like Ian Johnson so famously did a couple of years back. They gave birth to the gift that is the Dan Hawkins disaster, and while I'm not crazy about the Blue Field - they have a bowl game in the middle of Idaho in January. The fact that they even pulled that off speaks to some major persuasive, lobbying power - and you have to respect that. So Boise wins this one and beats the spread, en route to one game away from potentially the BCS again.

MM: As much as I love the Big 10/Big East/ACC struggles, this is what happens when those teams suck. ESPN2 ends up picking games like this to fill the afternoon slate. I'm disappointed that this isn't in Boise because I haven't seen the blue turf in HD and I'd like to see it. Anyway, Boise wins and covers even though they know deep down it doesn't matter because they aren't going to the BCS and so they are going to be in a shitty bowl regardless.

BYU (+7.5) @ Utah 5:00 PM MTN

ADMohr: Ah yes, the huge game that absolutely nobody will see, much like every other Mountain West game of significance this season. That conference needs to get their exposure figured out, it's like the opposite of the Big Ten which gives us too many games that Nobody wants to see - this conference consists completely of games that everyone wants to see but Can't. It's taken me some time to come up with ANY favorite things I have associated with either of the schools, but I did remember how I do love that very attractive man named Urban Meyer (side note - Urban, that's a pretty rare name right? I'm struggling to think of anybody else that has it off the type of my head, and to my knowledge, it's not exactly catching on either). Urban of course made BCS-crashing cool before it ever was, so in that spirit, Utah wins and covers in this one.

MM: Hot Mormon on Mormon action! On the Mormon Television Network*! This is Utah's last game of the season. Win this and its off to the BCS (undeservedly...although I'd much rather have them instead of Ohio State, because that's who it would be). With that in mind, Utah wins the game, but BYU keeps it close and covers the spread. Side note: Did you see that Mormons are pushing to get pole dancing included as an Olympic sport? They should talk to LSU, apparently they've got pole dancing down to an art.

Oregon State (+2.5) @ Arizona 6:00 PM Versus

ADMohr: Lots of favorite things to go around in this one. I've always been partial to the Beavers' performance in Omaha, essentially crashing a party generally owned by traditional powers in southern schools. I also have ties to Zona and ex-coach Lute Olson, as I saw Miles Simon and Mike Bibby and the 97 Championship team in the 97 Final Four. But Admohr's most favorite thing in this matchup goes no further than potentially keeping USC out of the BCS - which, believe it - could actually happen. Of course the scenario for that to happen involves Mizzou winning the Big 12 championship, while somehow Texas Tech and another Big 12 school keep the #1 and #2 spots in the BCS. Far-fetched, but come on, chaos is in season. So Oregon State wins this one and moves one game away from crashing the Rose Bowl.

MM: Did you know that Oregon State controls the Pac-10? If they win out, they, not USC, win the automatic BCS berth (the only Pac-10 loss they have came against at Stanford to start the season). That alone should give you a clue as to how bad the Pac 10 is, but to make it worse Arizona is actually favored in this game. Last week I correctly picked Arizona because they alternated wins and loses over the last few weeks. Last week they lost. I actually think they lose again this week. Oregon State wins outright and beats the spread.

Pittsburgh (+6) @ Cincinnati 6:15 PM ESPN2

ADMohr: I've always had a special place in my heart for Pitt people who sat in the stands with us and watched one of the worst football games ever played (thanks Joe Dailey!) while their personal property floated on down the river thanks to Hurricane Ivan. In fact, one of my favorite memories is myself, DoubleM, and DG sharing some Iron City Brew (well, not from the same bottle) in the pregame for this one. So this one goes to the 'stache courtesy of some fine hospitality in the face of disaster a couple of years ago.

MM: Wannstache! If Pittsburgh wins this, they probably take the lead in the Big East. This means that Steve Pederson would have been fired from Nebraska for creating a mediocre football team (and because people didn't like him), taken a job at a floundering football program, and cruised all the way to a BCS game. Incredible isn't it? Doesn't happen. Cincinnati wins and covers and Brian Kelly begins packing his office in preparation for a slew of offseason job offers.

Florida State (-1) @ Maryland 6:45 PM ESPN

ADMohr: Lots of favorites abound in this game. I'll always have a special place in my heart for the Charlie Ward team that beat TO before Nebraska became great (thanks Barron Miles for the late hit that arguably cost them the game) and if it seems weird that I have a special place in my heart for a team that beat one of my teams, you forget about the reign of success that soon followed. That game was the coming out party for the Huskers nationally, and if they hadn't lost that game close, well then Nebraska wouldn't have had "Unfinished Business" to take care of the following season (although, 95's best-college-football-team-of-all time's slogan was "Finished Business" so maybe marketing slogans for a school's sport that already has all the games sold out isn't all that important after all). Long story short, Bobby Bowden has always had traits that have always reminded me a bit of my late-grandfather, and he is certainly one of Admohr's favorite things so thus this one is going to go to the Seminoles, even though I actually kind of hope Maryland wins.

MM: This is a Bobby Bowden pregame speech. Prepare to be psyched up...

Would you bet on that guys team? On the road? No. Maryland beats the spread and wins outright. Side note: Maryland's basketball team did this a few weeks ago. I. Don't. Understand.

Texas Tech (+7) @ Oklahoma 7:00 PM ABC

ADMohr: Plus Seven! Man there is nothing this nation fears more year in and year out than a possibly-good OU team. Weather doesn't look to be too significant of a factor for Saturday night... oh wait we're almost looking act meaningful information there. Not the point of this week. I've always had mixed feelings about OU - they used to be like the Nebraska of the south - but they're really not anymore. Stoops is easy to love and easy to hate, and that's just talking about actual OU fans' feelings about them. But one of Admohr's favorite things is patience in college football. In an age where new head coaches get about 2.5 years to prove that they can motivate, scheme, recruit, not recruit bad kids, be a parent, be an advisor, and actually deliver on promises to the student body, the recruits, the parents, the donors, the AD, etc. etc etc - I respect a program that builds its success with patience and dedication to a plan. A lot of people are talking about Texas Tech this year like this is a new thing - but Tech has been famous for this system since at least 2001. For years it has looked like Leach's system is one that will always be a few players away from beating Texas and OU, from not having a break down in a game where they shouldn't, and from having a respectable defense. Tech on the national stage this year has looked
so dominant, so mistake-free, so ruthlessly efficient - Lubbock, TX has been patient enough to have earned this type of performance on this type of stage. So for every program out there that fires head coaches when only giving them a handful of years - just know, that sometimes - these things take MORE than just a couple of months to really come together. Texas Tech wins this one and is one step closer to the National Championship game. Because in a week where Pirates are in the news, it means everything is coming up Leach.

MM: Easily the game of the week (thank's for playing nobody this week SEC!). I can't believe the spread is 7 points. I have watched both of these teams a lot this year and I saw Nebraska's blah offense put up 28+ points on both of these defenses. The only difference is that Tech's defense has gotten better since then (it was their first "real" game), Oklahoma's has been that bad all season. I'll take Tech to cover the spread and actually win outright. And Texas Tech will celebrate!

That's it for the week. Here's the chart:

Have a good weekend.

If you aren't familiar with the Alamo Draft House, you may not know what Master Pancake is. For those of you that remember Mystery Science Theater 3000, its basically that. Those that don't, first of all, shame on you and second, its basically guys just talking over the movie making fun of it.

This Wednesday I saw them do the Jean Claude van Damme movie Bloodsport which was really funny. Which brings me to this video.

The funny part is that the real song that plays during that scene is almost as cheesy. Oh the Draft House was playing Bloodsport to promote JCVD, which looks like it might actually be good. Trailer below:

Monty Python is Awesome

Posted by Royalcow

If you read my shared items or any of the blogs that I do then you will have seen this before. If not, then you are really missing out. Monty Python just launched a YouTube site where they are going to be posting clips of classic (read: awesome) Monty Python moments.

Everyday after school from middle school on, I would watch the genius that is Monty Python's Flying Circus. And yes I can pretty much recite all of Holy Grail at will, so this is big news for me. If you are only familiar with the movies, I would recommend checking out some of the clips from the TV show. Here is one of my favorites (and probably the most well-known).

Now if you will excuse me there is a lot of Python to watch.

5 Minute Fix: MacGyver Fighting Skills

Posted by Double M

This video showed up all over the intermist this week. I watched it like 7 times straight.

Of course, here are variations of it all over YouTube, but this made me wonder what other fighting skill MacGyver had. Fortunately, someone has put together a video detailing this for me.

IR Pop Culture Cagematch: Wonder Woman

MM: A couple of weeks ago, MajorLB posted her Avatar Challenge (Side note: As much as we all love her avatar here at IR, she wants something else, so I say she takes it.) To me, the best part of that post was a reference to the Megan Fox as Wonder Woman photo. While Megan Fox is apparently not going to be Wonder Woman, the topic did make us all wonder, for one fleeting moment, who would wear Wonder Woman's costume. Then, an article came out where Beyonce said she wanted to be Wonder Woman saying, "A black wonder woman would be a very powerful thing."

This threw me into a panic. Doesn't anyone remember Austin Powers in Goldmember? Wasn't she supposed to be the star of Dreamgirls until Jennifer Hudson stole the movie? Look, I get it that Beyonce is attractive (most of the time), but that definitely shouldn't qualify her to be Wonder Woman. So the authors of IR and I ended up having a Twitter discussion that moved to email and now here. So, today, each of us is going to make a case for who we think should fill the role of Wonder Woman.

Double M

Remember when I said I freaked out about Beyonce playing Wonder Woman? It was in the last paragraph? Is your memory that short? Anyway, right after I freaked out, I realized that I knew nothing about WW. All I know is that she's an Amazon princess that has bullet-proof wristbands, an invisible jet, and a lasso. So, basically I knew this role would have to be played by someone who's willing to go campy, totally embrace the fact that there is a faction of people who will see this movie solely because she is scantly clad, and won't try to make the role more than it is. After racking my brain I came to: Angelina Jolie.

Yeah, it might seem like a cop-out pick, but she has already proved she'd do ridiculous comic book movies with Wanted, go campy with Tomb Raider, and looks good with dark hair. I've even photoshopped paint-ed what it would look like below. This seems like a no-brainer.

When Double M started this little post I immediately began to keep my eye out for potential candidates. When I ran into this picture I immediately knew that the girls of Charmed would make excellent candidates. Of course there's only one Wonder Woman so I have to narrow it down. First to go is the actress that plays Piper. I don't even know her name and I don't care to look it up, but she's just too motherly for WW. Next goes Rose McGowan because I don't think she's a good pick even though that picture is fierce. Wheezy also points out that lately she's been cast in things just because she's dating the director.

So, Alyssa Milano vs. Shannen Dougherty

Now, Shannen Dougherty clearly has the physical upper hand in that video clip, but then she got kicked off the show (like usual) and Alyssa Milano takes over the role of sister that kicks ass. And a fair amount of what I loved about WW was some of the cheesy campiness and I think Alyssa Milano can do that better (as long as she stays away from that pouty baby talk thing with her mouth). Shannen takes herself too seriously. So, officially my pick is:

Ross

I'll be honest, I don't know much about Wonder Woman. I haven't seen the old movie (is it movies?) and I haven't read any of the comics. That being said I'm going to still make an uneducated choice. I'm going with Famke Janssen. The big downside I see her is that she's already well known as Jean Grey. I guess that's a plus too, as we know she can pull off a comic book roll. I see Wonder Woman as a heroine that could give a good ass kickin. I think Famke could fill this role no problem. As an added bonus she's hot. So hot + tough + comic book experience = great Wonder Woman candidate.

I seriously doubt Double M actually used Photoshop to create that image.

In order to continue with what appears to be a series of choices based on little-to-no actual Wonder Woman knowledge, I'm going to put forth for my contender, one Sarah Palin.

She's not doing anything these days right? I mean, Alaska pretty much runs itself if the show "Northern Exposure" is any yardstick.

No, I'm kidding of course. She doesn't have the qualifications to be Wonder Woman. Instead, I'll throw out Morena Baccarin for my pick.

Probably best known (at least to me) as Inara on the regrettably canceled "Firefly", she's got more than enough in the way of "nerd-cred" to merit consideration in the Wonder Woman candidate pool. In addition to Inara, Morena has played Adria in Stargate SG-1, and already has a bit of comic experience, voicing Black Canary in the 2005 tv run of Justice League.

Admittedly, she could use a few extra el-bees (that's LBs) of muscle before beating up on baddies, but if Christian Bale can go from the Machinist to Bruce Wayne, I imagine Hollywood trainers can get an extra 10 or so on Morena before filming starts.

Not only that, but seems like SufferingSappho over at the Super Hero Forums already did the photoshoppin' for me.

So I can't see a possible way they can make a Wonder Woman movie even remotely good. I really don't think they can go campy especially if they want to roll everything into a JLA movie eventually. I would hope they would do some major reimaging, but even so I can't see how they can make it a good comic book movie. The way that I see it, they can either make it a good movie and throw away most of the comic book material, or they make it a faithful comic book movie and it will be terrible. I hope they can find a good balance, cause Marvel is kicking DC's ass in terms of movies (and in general, what have you read that was DC besides the Watchmen lately anyway).

In terms of casting though, there have been some good picks already. I was about to go with Inara, but Wheezy beat me to it. Luckily I had a few others in mind: Monica Bellucci and Megan Gale (who was cast as Wonder Woman in the JLA movie which may or may not make). If you need any help imagining Monica as Wonder Woman here's PheonixFlight's version (from the same forum Wheezy posted already).

While I do think that she would be able to carry the movie, I think she might be a little too old for the role, which leaves me with Megan Gale. I have no idea if she can act well enough, but I think she fits the part looks wise. Plus she's about 6 feet tall without heels. It might not be a creative pick, but a good one nonetheless.

MM: So there's that. Apparently none of us really know anything about Wonder Woman. On one hand, that's probably a bad thing because we will have no vested stake in seeing a movie. On the other hand, this is could be a good thing because the writers/directors could pretty much do whatever they want with the storyline and we'd have no clue whether it followed the previous stories or not.

Have a recommendation we didn't cover in the post? Let us know in the comments...
