Bowl Game Bonanza: Monday, January 5th

Posted by Double M

This post is part of a series of posts entitled Bowl Game Bonanza Did you know that there are a bazillion bowl games? Well there are. And here at IR I am going to give you a quick breakdown of each game so that you know who is playing in the bowl, what channel and time the game is on (all times CST), and why you would or wouldn't want to watch the game.

Its the 2nd to last BCS game and the 3rd to last bowl game. Also, as a bonus, today will be one of the last days that you'll have to hear a Texas fan whine about how they got screwed out of the national title game (even if they did) until next season Thursday.

On to the bonanza:

Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State (+8) vs. Texas (FOX, 7pm)
Location: Phoenix, AZ, University of Phoenix Stadium
Announcers: Matt Vasgersian, Tim Ryan, Laura Okmin, Chris Myers

Honestly, this bowl game is all that is wrong the bowl system. Texas deserves a shot at the national title (maybe not over Florida and Oklahoma, but at least a shot) and there is no way Ohio State deserves to be in a BCS game (honestly, the Big Ten was atrocious and is 1-5 this year in bowls) but because they won with a weak schedule and the bowls are all about money, this is the game we get. I'm pretty sure the BCS people don't care about whether we get good football. And they probably go home at the end of the day and do this.

Verdict: Texas wins and covers. It seems like 2002 was the last time that Ohio State showed up in a big non-conference game. I'm fairly certain the game will turn out like this.

Regretometer: Shouldn't be too great of a game, but there's no more Monday Night Football, so watch it. 3 on the Regretometer.

Look for Bowl Game Bonanzas everyday there's a bowl game.

Amen brother! BSCBS. Look at Utah, now they got burned. But I digress. God and the rest of the Longhorn Nation will watch the game tonight and be happy that we have an opponent warrants hating. Hook em buddy! Your friend, Dave Hasselhoff.

Well to be fair, the Buckeyes played pretty well in Austin back in 2006. A win so convincing, apparently, they're still earning BCS bids today. Crazy!
