Bowl Game Bonanza: Thursday, January 8th

Posted by Double M

This post is part of a series of posts entitled Bowl Game Bonanza Did you know that there are a bazillion bowl games? Well there are. And here at IR I am going to give you a quick breakdown of each game so that you know who is playing in the bowl, what channel and time the game is on (all times CST), and why you would or wouldn't want to watch the game.

Well, it is time for the National Championship game, although thanks to USC looking decent (and the Pac-10 not sucking in the bowl games) and Utah going undefeated, this game is only kinda the NC game. I guess it is more like the Mythical brand this time again.

On to the bonanza:

BCS National Championship: Florida (-4) vs. Oklahoma (FOX, 7pm)
Location: Miami Gardens, FL, Dolphin Stadium (Orange Bowl)
Announcers: Thom Brennaman, Charles Davis

I originally spent a lot of time breaking this game down. Then I realized that there are a lot better breakdowns at places like Every Day Should Be Saturday and The Wiz of Odds. So, instead, here's my four sentence take on this game:

OU has an NFL caliber O-line and D-line. Florida has the best college QB in the game and a go to play that has only been stopped once all year. If OU's o-line can give Bradford time and their d-line can prevent Florida from making the defense need to guess too much, OU will win. If not, Florida will win.

Anyway, if you're at the game, try to find this guy. I'm pretty sure you'd have a good time with him.

Verdict: The best d-line OU faced all year was from Texas and they lost that game. Cue this girl.

But I actually think their line has gotten way better since that game, so OU pulls this one out (they at least cover).
Regretometer: Look, its the national championship game. It should be good and you're gonna watch it anyway. Going into it, it is a 0 on the regretometer.

That's it - no more Bowl Game Bonanzas.
