A Bear Dancing Always Makes Me Feel Better

Posted by Double M

My Spurs were officially eliminated from the playoffs last night. I say officially because they were truly eliminated when Ginobili went out for the season in March.

But enough about that (you can read all you want about the Spurs at 48 Minutes of Hell) - I need something to cheer myself up.

And what better way to do it than watching a random out-of-context video.

I have no clue why, but I love mascots.

Of course, no post with dancing bears would be complete without this dancing bear video.

Just Another Reason to be Mad at Popeye's

Posted by Double M

I have boycotted Popeye's ever since they raised the price of their bottomless plate from $6 to $9. I have refused to go back and as much as my taste buds are angry at me, my overall health is probably better for it.

Anyway, you may be wondering why I am writing about Popeye's if I am boycotting them. Allow me to answer you thoughts with a story: When I used to work at a deli in a grocery store, we used to sell 8 pieces of chicken for $4.99. It was good - not as good as Popeye's - but still a good deal. But whenever we would put the chicken on sale at $3.99, people would go balistic. We'd have lines 20-30 people deep all to save $1 and if they had to wait for more chicken to be made, some people would yell and others would ask for a discount (seriously, 10% would be $0.30 people!). Enter Popeye's and their $4.99 for 8 pieces special they ran this last week.

Now, I have no clue what Popeye's normally charges for 8 pieces of chicken - I assume it is more than $5.99 because Popeye's is freaking expensive - but I can't imagine that it is worth "looking forward to" or yelling at the drive thru thing. Seriously, what do you mean "you can't feed your family?" Are there no other places to eat? Can you make food at home? Where are the Churches or KFC?

But hey, when my people get angry, I guess I have to support them: The boycott of Popeye's continues!

G.I. Joe Resolute

Posted by Royalcow

It is no secret we like G.I. Joe here on IR so it's a wonder this hasn't been posted here yet. This has been all over the internet lately and you really should check it out. I give you the first episode of G.I. Joe Resolute.

If you enjoyed that you can see the rest on Youtube or Adult Swim.

Magic Show

Posted by MajorLB

It probably helps that the one guy looks like Gob, but this made me laugh. According to YouTube it's making fun of their boss who moonlights as a musician. These guys are interns at a "Youth Marketing Agency" called Archrival which is located where Double M, DWheezy, and I went to school.

Added bonus: read the nigerian scammer emails on the Archrival site. Not quite the follow-thru of P-p-powerbook, but clever.

I really want to see this movie. Don't get me wrong I liked Ocean's 11 fine, it just would have been so much better with muppets. As is everything.

Thanks /film!

Awesome G.I. Joe PSA's You Haven't Seen

Posted by Double M

With the upcoming G.I. Joe movie coming this summer, there will invariably be a whole shit ton of posts out there that show you the awesome dubbed over GI Joe PSAs. If you haven't ever seen them, you can watch them here - they are a must for any GI Joe fan.

But I'm here to show you some PSA videos you haven't seen. Some guy named Scott Whyte went the next step further and actually filmed live GI Joe PSAs. And they are funny.

I'm also fairly certain that is a Baldwin brother.

Here's another one where they get a little creepy.

This next one might be my favorite - whent he GI Joe guys are a little late to arrive.

And now you know.

Why I want to like Extract

Posted by Wheezy

There's a new movie coming out this Labor Day by Mike Judge, creator of the seminal "Beavis and Butthead", the adored "King of the Hill", the hilarious "Office Space" and the mediocre "Idiocracy". It's called "Extract" - and there are several reasons I want to like it.

First of all, despite my severe disappointment in "Idiocracy" - I'm a huge Judge fan, and willing to give just about any of his stuff a shot. I think part of the reason I hated Idiocracy so much is that I had such high expectations going in (where as I had never even heard of Office Space when I went to see it the first time. Thanks Kevin!)

Jason Bateman of "Teen Wolf 2" fame is in it, which should be reason enough, but in addition to that the supporting cast is a phenomenal mix of J.K. Simmons, Ben Affleck, Kirsten Wiig (who has been in a lot of movies lately but none to the extent that I would like to see), the Sparkle Motion lady from Donnie Darko, and Mila Kunis. Enough blathering though, here's the trailer.

Will it be good? Only time will tell I guess. What do you guys think?

Best TV Edit Ever: Snakes on a Plane

Posted by Double M

Seeing Snakes on a Plane in a theater was one of the best experiences I've had seeing a movie. The theater was rowdy, I assume most of the people I was with were wasted, and the movie was ridiculously horrible and awesome at the same time. I'll be honest, I would probably watch that movie on TV if it was on.

And apparently it has been on TV. And this is what happened to Samuel L. Jackson's famous line.

You'd think with no profanity that the line would be worthless. Instead, we got the words "Monkey Fighting" dropped on us like we were Hiroshima and SLJ was the a-bomb. Genius.

No longer will I use the f-bomb. From now on it is only "monkey fighting" for me. I don't know who wrote that TV edit, but I want to shake that man's hand.

Side note: I have watched this clip like 30 times. Is this just an alternate take from filming? It seriously looks like he says "monkey fighting" and "Monday to Friday." Someone figure this out for me.

I Wish I Were This Good

Posted by Royalcow

There are a lot of things I wish I were better at, but top among those is golf. I have played off and on since I was a kid, but never really got what I would say is good. I can't decide if this clip of Vijay Singh makes me want to play more or less.

Charles Barkley's Bread Eating Challenge

Posted by Double M

This is why you need to be watching TNT's Inside the NBA. Whether you like basketball or not, this is funny.

On Inside the NBA, Chris Webber bet Charles Barkley that he couldn't eat one (1) piece of bread in 25 seconds. This is what happens (make sure you click the HD button):

I've heard of the 6 saltines in 30 seconds challenge (and I've seen that accomplished once by one @dg11) but never the one piece of bread in 25 seconds challenge. I'm going to do some more research on this and get back to you later this week.

One things movie execs could have included in Fast and Furious to make Wheezy not hate the movies

Posted by Double M

All they needed to do was include a ridiculous breakdancing scene. See, Vin Diesel knows how to make it happen.

I'm not sure how they would have mixed it in but a we're-making-it-seem-spontaneous-but-it's-really-heavily-choreographed breakdancing on the hood/roof of a car scene from Vin Diesel and Paul Walker would have added enough comedy to make me, and probably Wheezy love the movie.

In the next F&F movie that will invariably happen (and be named F&F because they will need to shorten the name again), they need to make this happen.

Side note: Is the Paul Walker/Vin Diesel Fast and Furious combo the Dubai indentured-servant version of the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence (MARTIN!) Bad Boys combo? Discuss.

Pac-man Live is Awesome

Posted by Double M

A few years ago when Wheezy and I lived together in the 1-9-1-threezy, we watched a crappy movie you may have heard of called Club Dread. Turns out the movie is awful. Do not watch it.

There is only one scene in the movie that made me really laugh. They setup a live game of Pac-man. You can watch the scene on Hulu here. I would have embedded the clip, but it moves slightly past even the After Dark tag (and it isn't the weekend anyway). Still kind of a funny clip even out of context.

Anyway, it has been a dream of mine to make live Pac-man* happen at some point in my life (And it will happen dammit). In the meantime, I guess I'll have to live off of other people's glory. Here's some people that enacted Pac-man MTV Jackass style.

H/T: Neatorama

Have a good weekend.

* At one point in my life I may have accepted a Pacman Sno-cone in place of live Pac-man. This is no longer the case.

Putting SNL on the Mist: Junk Mail Commercial

UPDATE: I know I posted this 2 days ago but the video should work now, so watch it.

Remember that Junk Mail commercial I wanted earlier today? Well, Twitter helped me find it (it's the new Google!). And now I'm bringing it to you.

That's the power of The Mist ladies and gentlemen.

Destroying Middle School Memories: Topenga Lawrence

Posted by Double M

I'm not like a lot of people - I actually had a great time in middle school. Did I do some embarrassing things? You bet. But probably nothing worse than I've done when I've had a few too many drinks. Did I rock some fashions my kids will laugh at? Absolutely, but that's not different than anyone else.

Middle school was great. Kelly Kapowski was in her prime, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was awesome, the Chicago Bulls rocked their 2nd three-peat, and HBO was still showing soft-core porn at nights (allowing me to lose my boob virginity to Pamela Anderson). All-in-all it was a sweet time.

So it's understandable that I'd be pissed when someone tries to destroy my memories from that time in my life. What's being destroyed? Topenga. No Topenga was no Kelly, but she was part of one of the best middle-school focused shows Disney made in the mid-90's. Check out this sweet clip.

Who couldn't find that kinda cute?

Well, what's happened to Topenga? This:

I think she just got done eating Corey Matthews.

...and 7 Chipotle burritos, 12 McD's double cheeseburgers (she needs 24 patties!), and the back half of a pig cut into strips or patties, all fried. Good God. Someone help her before I can no longer watch Boy Meets World in peace.

WTF Hulu? [SNLish Recap]

Posted by Double M

Here's the deal, I quit doing SNL recaps because I felt like Hulu was suddenly putting all the good skits up and I felt like I was wasting my time. Then, suddenly, this week they decided not put up two of the best skits. As a result, I'm going back to my old ways where I try to find the videos that don't make it to Hulu. So, if you know where I can find the Junk Mail commercial from this week, let me know.

Anyway, one of the best skits from this past weekend that did make it onto Hulu is the skit called High School Musical 4 (the hombre from the High School Musical skits was the host this week, so it made sense). I made this exact joke like 3 years ago (Fish Dicks!), but it is implemented very well and made me laugh.

The other skit I loved that is on Hulu was a guest feature on Weekend Update featuring Bon Jovi's opposite band Jon Bovi.

Will Forte is awesome.

You know what isn't awesome? The stupid Gilly skits.

The Greatest Boxing Video Ever

Posted by Double M

I don't usually post things that I share in my Google shares feed (side note, if you don't subscribe to the shared items feeds from IR already you should - the links are in the sidebar), but this video is too good to pass up.

Anyway, hombre at EDSBS found the best boxing video I had ever seen. It is 3 minutes long and worth every second, even if you don't like boxing. Trust me.

What better day to start off your Easter Monday.

Sexy Lightsaber Fight

Posted by Royalcow

I'm pretty sure that this idea has existed for quite some time in Star Wars fan fiction, but for all of you who have ever imagined hot girls fighting over you with lightsabers heres the video. Reminds me a lot of bra and panties matches in pro wrestling or what passes for it these days. I always thought it looked cooler when I was a kid. Anyway, NSFW is your boss is looking over your shoulder.

Fun fact: this was filmed at the WHISKEY A GO GO.

I need some carpet skates pronto

Posted by MajorLB

I'm one of those people that loves to slide on hardwood floors in socks. Who doesn't really? If you don't like doing that, then I don't trust you. Unfortunately my apartment is carpeted. Good thing someone else has been working on this problem. I present carpet skates:

Here's a thinkgeek video about them. This is probably at the level I would use them.

Other people (maybe you?) take things to another level. I have a feeling this would end very badly for me. I bruise easy.

Did You Know Yesterday was MLB Opening Day?

Posted by Double M

MLB = Major League Baseball for those of you that don't know. I like baseball, but not many of you do so we'll move on.

The point of my video today was to show you a reason why T-Rex's are the most awesome dinosaur ever: They can throw out the opening pitch at a baseball game.

We need to find a way to incorporate t-rex's into every sporting event. At next season's Nebraska football home opener, how bad ass would it be for the t-rex to lead the Huskers out of the Tunnel Walk? The answer is really bad ass.

Here's a representation of what it could be like.

Let's make this happen.

Old becomes new again... Animated Christian Bale

Posted by Wheezy

I know it may seem like that Christian Bale sound clip has about as much comedy wrung out of it as humanly possible, but the guys over at Spline Doctors created a contest which put animators out in the world up to the task of making what was already ridiculously funny even funnier.

Definitely jump over there and check out the winners.

Guitar Hero: Metallica

Posted by Royalcow

We could argue all day about which album best represents Metallica selling out, but I'm not going to (Load). I could also talk a bunch about GH:Metallica but really you Hop Ons have played Guitar Hero/Rock Band before. You know what you are getting. What I did want to post is the commercials for GH:Metallica. I've seen two versions of this commercial basically with Metallica demanding people to put on their pants. Funny though. The first involves NCAA coaches and the second demolition (be sure to click on the HD button).

This version might not be for GH:Metallica and I'm pretty sure most of you have seen at least one version of this, but this one has Heidi Klum in her underpants. NSFW if you work is against that kind of thing.

Why I Liked Monsters vs. Aliens

Posted by Royalcow

Dreamworks knocked Kung Fu Panda out of the park there is no question about that. Personally I found it more watchable than Wall-E. No disrespect to Wall-E here (Wheezy I'm talking to you), but I have seen Kung Fu Panda more. In any case Monsters vs. Aliens is the next film for Dreamworks so I was expecting a lot. Here's the preview.

You catch that part at the end where it said 3D? So that turns out to be the main selling point for this movie. I was really surprised how much more engaging that it makes things (especially if you aren't worried about things jumping out at you all the time). You could make out all of the little details better somehow (ten points to whoever can tell me in the comments where Shrek's head appears). It was a great experience.

The cast was pretty good, but I didn't care as much about the characters like I did in Kung Fu Panda. Reese Witherspoon does what she does best, which is to sound cute. Seth Rogen (who is in everything apparently) was really the highlight of the movie for me. Sure he doesn't stretch much past any other role he does, but why bother when you can play a gelatinous blob so well. Again no disrespect meant. Colbert's president is moderately funny, but the character really has one standout part (hint: it involves a synthesizer). Other IR favorites Rainn Wilson and Will Arnett also make appearances.

All and all, I enjoyed the movie. It's no Kung Fu Panda, but it's still a good time. Oh and be sure to stay after the first part of the credits. Let's hear what you thought in the comments!

Bill Hader on Jimmy Fallon

Posted by Double M

A few weeks ago Late Night with Jimmy Fallon premiered. I was going to break it down for you, but it seems like everyone else on the internets did it, so I didn't want to mess with it.

Anyway, Fallon has been running a steady stream of his friends/acquaintances through the show. Monday he had Bill Hader on and I'm posting this for 2 reasons:

1) It was a pretty funny interview
2) You can see Fallon's interview style which is still a little awkward. It's amazing how good Leno/Conan/Letterman are at interview compared to Fallon.

Anyway, here's the two parts of the interview. Part 2 with the mustaches actually made me laugh quite a bit.

Side note: Part 1 was basically a condensed version of a Bill Simmons podcast featuring Hader that ran last week. If you want to hear more from Hader, check that out.

Here's part 2. It picks up with him taking about his interview from Adventureland.
