Customer Support Week

Posted by Double M

If you are currently doing or have ever done customer support this has been a good week - the mist has been full of customer support jokes this week. First there was this Tech Support Cheat Sheet from xkcd.

Then, there was this awesome video that's been working its way around the webernets. Even if you don't know anything about customer support, you'll enjoy some of the shenanigans in this video.

So here's to you customer support people. Keep on supporting.

I wish I had HBO

Posted by Ross

HBO has a lot of good programming. There is one show in particular that make me wish I had it. Bored to Death features Jason Schwartzman (one of my favorite actors) as a writer who tries moonlighting as a private detective. It appears from the trailer that it has some pretty great guest appearances (John Hodgman, Patton Oswalt, Kristen Wiig, Parker Posey, Bebe Neuwirth, Oliver Platt). Enjoy the trailer and invite me over to your house for the premiere if you have HBO.

Two Fake Trailers: Inglorious Plumbers and Avatar

Posted by Double M

In preparation for Inglorious Bastards (which I hope is awesome), here's an awesomely over-the-top remake of the trailer featuring Mario characters.

I'll leave the movie criticism up to the people that do that around here, but that trailer sure looks awesome. Certainly better than the clusterf- that was the Avatar trailer. I had no clue what was going on there outside of sweet special effects. So, instead, enjoy this version of the trailer.

Archrival Interns Do It Again

Posted by MajorLB

I almost didn't post this because most of my Nebraska friends will see this through Facebook and Twitter today and the next few days, but then I remember that the majority of you Hop Ons aren't affiliated with Nebraska.

IR has seen these guys before and they deliver another funny, well-produced video to help you get to know them a little bit better.

Date My Avatar

So most of the geeks out there have already seen this, and most of the non-geeks won't really care, but I thought I'd post it anyways. It's a video featuring Felicia Day to promote The Guild, which starts season 3 in a few days. You may remember we were lucky enough to have Felicia stop by and comment on our blog once.

Here's the video.

And for fans of Zaboo, don't forget Sandeep Parikh, Creator/Writer/Directore/etc. of Legend of Neil is in it's second season. I'm not sure how appealing this show is to people who have never touched a Zelda game, but that's definitely not me, so I like it. (For the record, I'm a huge fan of the Zelda franchise, I've never played an MMORPG, and I do love The Guild)

After Dark: Bikini Cinema - The Big Lebowski

Posted by Ross

It's not really NSFW as the girls are wearing bikinis, but that combined with the dialogue (If you're unfamiliar with the Big Lebowski: 1- you're an idiot, 2- there are a lot F bombs) I figured some colleagues may think this is in poor taste. Anyways, without further ado, I bring you chicks in bikinis reading from the script of The Big Lebowski.

TV You Need to Watch: Shaq Vs.

Posted by Double M

ABC puts on a lot of bad television (Superstars hosted by John Saunders was one of the worst shows I've seen and did not feature many (if any) superstars outside of TO) so, I was hesitant about their crazy idea Shaq Vs.

If you don't know, Shaq Vs. is basically Shaq running around challenging other athletes to competitions involving their sport. Obviously, Shaq isn't putting on pads and going to a pre-season game with and NFL team, but this is about as good as it can get for an athlete that is still playing.

Outside of LeBron or Michael Jordan, I'm not sure that there's another athlete I'd want to see in this show. Shaq is the most charismatic athlete in sports today and he's a f-ing giant which makes everything he does kinda funny in itself. Unrelated side note: The further Shaq gets from his time in LA, the more I'm convinced that he left because he was becoming a national villain because people hated his Lakers teams. He went to Miami and instantly everyone loved him again.

The show itself was pretty good. There was 5 minutes of ABC bullshit at the beginning (and a lot more throughout) but once Shaq shows up at Ben Rothlisberergerger's house, it gets interesting.

Anyway, since ABC finally stopped being little bitches and put their shows up on Hulu, here's the show:

Notes:
- Could have done without the "announcers" and the shitty fake studio
- The trash talking was awesome
- Neg Burns! (on the Shaq trainer)
- I'm fairly certain that Big Ben is close to a mullet

In any case, you should watch the show because it looks like it could be enjoyable.

Things DoubleM Needs to Teach Supershorty: Parallel Parking

Posted by Royalcow

I thought I would start a new series here at IR since DoubleM had a kid. The title basically explains it all.

You need to teach him to say, "Like a glove." afterwards though.

goodspaceguy Might Be My Hero

Yesterday was an election day for King County (Seattle's county), but it's not a big deal because elections are done by mail. Part of the thing that comes in the mail is a pamphlet explaining each candidate. Amongst the candidates for King County Executive (no, I have no idea what this position does) I found a real gem: Goodspaceguy

Click to read (highly recommended)

As seen in the above his blog is http://colonizespace.blogspot.com/ which contains this blurb:

Question 1: What are your priorities, especially as they relate to parks and green spaces in Seattle?

Answer: I, Goodspaceguy, want to increase access to the parks by increasing free parking, and I want to increase access by keeping the parks always open, (for example, for lovers and for gay astronomers) and by providing showers for users of the parks.

Seriously try to read the 1st and 3rd paragraphs of the pamphlet entry outloud and not laugh. Impossible!

Denny Blaze - The Original White Rapper - Average Homeboy

Posted by Double M

Let me list off a few things I love*:
1) Crappy white rappers
2) Old-school music videos
3) Derka old-school music videos
4) Websites that play sound immediately upon arrival
5) Sites designed by GeoCities/Angelfire

With that in mind, let me introduce you to Denny Blaze, the Average Homeboy, his website, and his music video. This is four minutes of delightfulness (more if you go to the website).

That's apparently been around for a while. I'm just sad it has taken me years to post it.

* Some of those things I don't actually love, I just love to laugh at them.

GI Joe Ballad

Posted by Royalcow

I haven't seen GI Joe yet, for no other reason than I was out of town this weekend, not that it looks like a bad movie. As I have mentioned previously I like everything so even a bad movie can be enjoyable, especially if it is seen at the Alamo Draft House.

Oh right, the Ballad of GI Joe.

As usual with these FoD videos, let's play name that celebrity. I'll go first. Alan Tudyk as Shipwreck.

CTRL

Posted by Ross

Many of you die hard Arrested Development fans are probably turning blue in the face from holding your breath waiting to hear about an official green light for an AD movie. While you are busy hoping and praying for that to happen a little show called CTRL might give you a little taste of what you've been missing. Tony Hale plays a Buster-esque character that wields a keyboard imbued with magical powers from spilling Nestea on it. OK, so the premise is a little weak and there's a lot of obvious product placement, but it's entertaining. At one point Tony Hale even does the nervous Buster arms-back-up-elbows-hands-over-the-ears maneuver. At about five minutes per episode you don't really find enough time to ponder how ridiculous the plot and actions of the characters are. Episode 1 embedded below for your viewing pleasure. (Yeah Hulu!)

America Is Bad at Science

Posted by Ross

Warning: Rant ahead

Plug In Hybrid vehicles have been bothering me for quite some time now. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them, and I hope to buy one some day, as they are a great idea for a lot of reasons. So what bothers me? The way car companies market them. Chevy made an announcement today about the Chevy volt and that it will get 230 MPG. I'll say this once, in bold, so we are clear on this.

THE CHEVY VOLT WILL NOT GET 230 MILES PER GALLON.

No car will anytime soon, if ever. You may be able to go 230 miles by putting in a gallon of gas, but that's because you are also adding another source of fuel, electricity. They could just as easily say that the Volt gets 1,000 MPG or 40 MPG. It all depends on how you drive and fuel your car. I'm making this post because this sort of marketing needs to stop. Although a plug in hybrid is a fairly simple concept, America can not grasp their fuel efficiency. Car companies are now using that to trick people into thinking these cars are more efficient than they actually are. Consumers need to realize what is actually happening so they don't think that they can drive across the country for 30 bucks worth of fuel. It's not just car companies at fault either. News outlets are just as guilty and even one of my favorite websites on things green, ecogeek, is guilty of this. In order to really compare efficiences we need to know how many MPG the car gets from the gasoline engine and how many miles per kWh or Amp-hour the car gets from the battery. Just a personal gripe of mine that I wanted to share with you all. Sorry for not having anything entertaining, here's a lolcat.

5 Minute Fix: Batman Short

This is more like a 5 second fix, but I had to share it with my fellow Batman enthusiasts here on IR. A NSFW word if your work is really uptight.

How awesome is it that we have a batman label?

T-Pain & an NFL Team's

Posted by Double M

A friend of mine in the MIA tipped me off to the Miami Dolphin theme song last year after he learned of my love for the San Diego Superchargers theme song (Skeet Thrower link!).

Well apparently, Miami has legitimately brought in T-Pain to autotune their theme song and make it an iPod must-have. I'm not sure if they have accomplished this or not, but it is catchy. Have a listen:

It's no Gay Fish but it is catchy.

MacGyver and a Message to a Girl Named Flower

Posted by Double M

What better way to start off the week than with some MacGyver, right? Right. So here you go.

H/T: VideoGum

Also, this past weekend I went to a casino and after being up quite a bit, I had to walk away from the craps table after a pit-boss named Flower showed up and brought some bad mojo (and causing me to lose my dinero). This video goes out to you, Flower.

FYI, Flower isn't a real name.

Hyperize [Nike]

Posted by Double M

Being a Nike ad exec has to be a lot of fun. You just get to handpick the best athletes and then make ridiculous commercials that have nothing to do with your product because your brand is so strong.

Example: Here's a new commercial from Nike featuring several NBA players in a ridiculous rap video. And I love it.

Hip-hop and basketball in one day. It's a good post.

Have a great weekend.

My New Favorite Webstie: GIF Party

Posted by Double M

I've told you before that I read too much shit in Google Reader. You've all heard it and are probably bored by it.

Anyway, one day, as the beatdown of seeing 1000+ every time I login to Reader began to weigh on my soul, I realized that if I knocked out some easy sites right away the number become immediately more handle-able.

And that's where the beauty of GIF Party comes in. Unlike other crappy image sites like Fail Blog, it isn't overrun with shit throughout the day - it is just a couple, usually funny animated GIFs. So, rather than keep talking, I'll leave it to the GIFs to do the talking.

Hey Everybody, Ross Turned Old(er)

Posted by Double M

Dear Ross,

I really almost posted this on your Birthday, but then you called me at 2:45am to tell me that you were at some crazy party in the woods. I assumed there was no mist in the woods (and by mist, you no I mean the webermist, not dew).

In any case, since I blew my birthday load for you on your wedding, I had to search high-and-low for the perfect video post for you.

And then I found it. I have posted it below.

By the time you read this, I'll probably be on a plane flying to Cali, but I'll know, in my heart, that you're laughing.

Love,

MM

Happy Birthday, Ross.
