Azureus Rising

Posted by Royalcow

Been a little thin on the ground around here lately, but I couldn't resist posting this. Be sure to watch this. In HD. Loudly if possible.

Our very own Wheezy had a hand in this beauty, which just won "Best Animated Short" at the Malibu Film Festival! Well done indeed.

April Fools Muppet Edition

Just in time for April Fool's Day, the Muppet Studio has uploaded another video, which I am more than happy to share with all the hop ons out there. Its violent and slightly disturbing and involves a monster singing "Stand By Me". Enjoy!

PS. Be sure to click through to YouTube and check out TEXTp in the resolution drop down.

Muppet Bohemian Rhapsody

This is about the best thing I have seen all week. I would recommend if you are ever feeling sad, watch this video. Or any of the Muppet Show really, but right now, watch this video.

You can only imagine that this was part of a challenge, something like, "Have a friend injure himself without him realizing it. Humorous entries only."

5 Minute Fix: Drunk Larry Goes to the Market

Posted by Royalcow

The original for this video made the rounds on the interwebs last week, but I prefer this version much better. Enjoy the adventures of Drunk Larry.

I am working my way through Brutal Legend so I can give all you hop ons a good review, but in the meantime may I present a good chunk of the soundtrack (or what I could find on Grooveshark - sorry the songs aren't shuffled, the widget doesn't support that yet). Enjoy the best damn metal playlist ever!

Why I Liked Zombieland

Posted by Royalcow

Zombies. That is basically why I liked this movie. Okay, so maybe that isn't the only reason, in fact it wasn't even the top reason why I liked this movie, but Zombieland did in fact have zombies. Lots of zombies.

This movie certainly exceeded my expectations. The main strength of this came from the cast. Woody Harrelson plays an awesome redneck zombie killer. Emma Stone (you know the girl that Jonah Hill tries to hook up with in Superbad) looks hot as always, possibly even hotter toting a gun. Olive from Little Miss Sunshine (Abigail Breslin) does a great job as the young sister. And then there's the Columbus, the neurotic, WoW-playing, shut in, who of course gets the girl at the end. Oh let's not forget (spoiler!) Bill Murray (highlight to see spoiler text, although if you clicked on the IMDB link above you already know).

As a side note, the best line in this movie is, "You're going to find out who you have to call."

Fun fact about Zombieland, after filming Woody Harrelson punched a photographer damaging his camera. Harrelson later claimed that it was cause he thought he was a zombie. Apparently, from an interview that Playboy did with Harrelson he claimed this was all Paul McCartney's idea. Brilliant. Another fun fact is that Zombieland does have crap after credits!

So go see the movie. It's awesome.

PS. I might also suggest a simple drinking game to go along with the movie. Drink when...
  • Anyone says the title of the movie (yes, Z-land counts).
  • A rule is displayed on the screen.
  • And if you are really serious, anytime someone refers to another person as a city.
Enjoy!

Happy Hobbit Day!

Posted by Royalcow

Well today is Hobbit day, which for those of you who don't know means it is Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' fictional birthday. In honor of this nerdy day and in the theme of bad music and videos, here is Leonard Nimoy's tribute to Bilbo.

Wow.

Work Place Smooth Jazz

Posted by Royalcow

I usually leave the animation posting to Wheezy, but since he seems to be mostly absent from IR these days I thought I would post this little gem that I came across.

I have worked in offices that play that crap, and it makes me glad that:
  1. I have a good pair of headphones

  2. My current workplace plays 80s music instead

Rick Astley vs. Nirvana

No idea why Ross didn't post this himself, but I found it on his feed. Watch this video. Do it now.

Maybe it's not Rick Astley versus Nirvana, more like Rick Astley heart Nirvana.

These Guys Are Good - Tiger Woods 10

Posted by Royalcow

I finally got around to beating Ghostbusters, so I have had some time to play the other game I have purchased recently: Tiger Woods 10. This is one of the first games that use the Wii Motion Plus adapter, which allows you to model the Wiimotes motions more accurately. What does this mean to you? You know that slice you can't get rid of on the golf course? Well, you now have it playing a video game. And there's only one putter (as opposed to different putters for different distances). Compare this with Wii Sports golf or the other Wii golf games and it blows them out of the water. Speaking of water, here are the YouTube ads for Tiger Woods 09 and 10 (be sure to watch the first one if you haven't):

I really can't wait to play the tennis games that came out with support for Wii Motion Plus as well. The only complaint that I have is that there's now another $20 accessory for the Wii, but if you buy the bundle with Tiger Woods you get it for $10! It's like free money! I haven't played this on any other system, so if you have let me know about it in the comments!

Why I Liked Star Trek

Posted by Royalcow

I have never been a huge Star Trek fan. I always liked Star Wars better and the only Star Trek show I ever watched with any sort of regularity was Voyager and that was mainly for Jeri Ryan and it happened to be on right after the Muppet Show in college. That being said I was very excited to see the new Star Trek movie. For the uninformed among us, here is the trailer (if you are using a reader you might need to click through to see it).

J.J. Abrams has been involved in so many project that I am a fan of (LOST, Cloverfield, Alias, hell he even directed an episode of The Office) that this movie couldn't have been bad. The very solid 95% on Rotten Tomatoes was very encouraging. Let's just say that my expectations were met, maybe even exceeded.

This is just a good movie. It was funny (genius casting Simon Pegg as Scotty), great action, and a great story. Of course they had to throw in a few old-school Star Trek references, but that really only added to the enjoyment of the movie.

Really the only thing left to do is advise you to see this movie and post the Onion video about it (again, if you are using a reader you might need to click through to see it).

Oh and no crap after credits on this one. Enjoy!

Henson's 11

I really want to see this movie. Don't get me wrong I liked Ocean's 11 fine, it just would have been so much better with muppets. As is everything.

Thanks /film!

Why I Liked I Love You, Man

Posted by Royalcow

It is 80 degrees in Austin in March, which means its almost time for 100 degree days in June. I'm not really looking forward to that part as much, but I do love the summer movie season. It seems to have started early this year since there are quite a few movies out/coming out that I am looking forward to in the next couple of months. One such movie is I Love You, Man. Here is the Red Band trailer for you, so be warned, some NSFW audio.

There was a premier for this movie at SXSW this year and I had somehow hoped that I could warrant an invite without really doing anything, which of course didn't happen, but I had heard some good things from that showing. It also is sitting at 81% on Rotten Tomatoes right now. So what were my expectations? I really only expected this movie to be Jason Segel and Paul Rudd being funny, which this movie delivered very well.

The plot is a bit predictable, but what was a pleasant surprise was the supporting cast. Rashida Jones (Karen from The Office) was great in her role, but the supporting cast standouts would have to go to Andy Samburg, who suprised me by playing a character that isn't one of his Lonely Island characters, and Jon Favreau, who plays the perfect asshole. Oh and Jaime Pressly is hot (duh).

I would certainly recommend seeing this. It's good for the date night and for those of you guys in bromances out there. I'm looking at you MM and Wheezy. Oh and be sure to stay for the credits since there is actually some crap during credits on this movie.

Gobstopper: The Movie

Posted by Royalcow

You wouldn't know it from the title of this post but this isn't an After Dark post here on Immediate Regret. It has been a bit of a slow week here with MM having a baby and all, but I thought I would share this video with you. It is another Funny or Die exclusive video that is really good. I have to echo Wheezy when I say it is amazing that they are getting such big name actors for these little shorts.

Name the actors in the comments! I'll start: Christopher Lloyd.

Lex Luthor on the Bailout

Posted by Royalcow

I saw this today and had to post it. Funny or Die has really put out some great content lately. This video stars John Hamm from Madmen as Lex Luthor. Needless to say I approve.
